Glass Tutorial - Blender 3D

In this tutorial we will learn how to make and object look like it is made of glass.

1) Select your object.


2) Hit the "F5" button or select the "Shading" button.



3) Hit the "Add New" button under the Links and Pipeline section.



4) Lower the Alpha to 0.0
(Note) Alpha is located below the R,G,B.


5) Hit the "Ray Mirror" button in the Shaders section.



6) Change Ray Mirror to read .30



7) Change Ray Mirror Depth to 3



8) Hit the "Ray Transparency" button in the Shaders section.



9) Change the Ray Transparency IOR to 1.50.



10)Change the Ray Transparency Depth to 3



11) Render your work.
(Note) Hit the "F12" button to render.

  1. You might mention also turning on the "Ray" button in the Render panel in Render (F10) - the default is off, at least in my Blender setup. Not knowing about that button could leave newbies totally stuck.
